The capacity of the diesel generator set should first meet the needs of stable calculation load, including the fire load and guaranteed load. So how should it be calculated? As a fire-fighting load, dg genset are usually used as a backup power source for fire-fighting electrical equipment. Once the mains power goes out, the dg sets are interlocked and turned on immediately. In the event of a general power outage in a non-fire emergency state, loads such as life pumps, passenger elevators, hotel kitchen power, and star-rated guest room lighting (called guaranteed loads) also require backup power supply. If the diesel engine generator set is designed to only bear the fire-fighting load such as emergency lighting, and the guaranteed load cannot be taken into account, it will inevitably cause the set to be vacant and waste resources.
For this reason, when designing the low-voltage power distribution system, under the premise of meeting the needs of the fire protection load, it is possible to consider the power supply of the generator to the guaranteed load in the event of a power outage instead of a fire. How to calculate the fire load correctly should arouse attention. The recommended calculation principle is to only consider a fire in one fire compartment (just like water fire fighting), that is, it is considered that the possibility of fire in two or more fire compartments at the same time is very low. Generally, the fire pump must be included as a fixed load, and how much load such as fire elevators and smoke exhaust fans are included depends on the size of the load put into service in a fire zone.
