Some Requirements for Diesel Generator Set Installation
1. The installation location should be well ventilated. The alternator end should have enough air inlets and the diesel engine end should have good air outlets. The area of the air outlet should be more than 1.5 times larger than the area of the water tank.
2. The area around the installation site should be kept clean and avoid placing objects that can produce acidic, alkaline and other corrosive gases and steam nearby. If possible, prepare a fire extinguishing device aside.
3. If it is for indoor use, the exhaust pipe must be connected to outdoor. The pipe diameter must be greater than or equal to the diameter of the exhaust pipe of the muffler. The pipe elbow should not exceed 3 to ensure smooth exhaust. The pipe should be head down tilt at 5-10 degrees to avoid rainwater injection. If the exhaust pipe is installed vertically upwards, then a rain cover must be installed.
4. The canopy of the dg set must be with a reliable protective grounding. For generators that need to be directly grounded with a neutral point, neutral grounding must be performed by professionals and equipped with lightning protection devices. It is strictly forbidden to use the grounding device of the mains power to directly ground the neutral point. The two-way switch with the mains power must be very reliable to prevent reverse power transmission. The wiring reliability of the two-way switch needs to be inspected and approved by the local power supply department.
5. Final Inspection. The installer should check that everything works as it should and confirm that all installations meet the requirements. If everything’s perfect, the dg set is ready for next move.
