The diesel engine generates high temperature and heat during operation. When the diesel engine is not cooled well and the temperature of the parts is too high, it will cause some failures. It could damage the diesel engine and generator set, and it may cause the entire diesel generator set to be scrapped. In order to ensure that the heated parts of the diesel engine and the supercharger shell are not affected by high temperature, and to ensure the lubrication of each working surface, it is necessary to cool the heated parts. The function of the cooling system of the generator set is to transfer part of the heat from the heated parts to keep the parts at normal operating temperature. The cooling water tank plays a very important role in ensuring the normal operation of diesel generator sets. When the diesel generator set is in operation, the coolant in the cooling water tank is usually very hot and under pressure. Therefore, it is strictly forbidden to touch the radiator or remove the pipe & protective cover when it is not cooled enough or when the fan is still rotating.
The reason for the failure of the radiator. Corrosion is the main cause of radiator failure. It is recommended to check the pipe joints frequently to prevent leakage, and to fill the water tank regularly to empty the air in the system. The cooling water tank should not be in a partially filled and discharged condition, because it may accelerate the corrosion process. For non-working diesel generator sets, the water tank should be emptied or filled. If conditions permit, it is best to use distilled water or natural soft water, and add an appropriate amount of rust inhibitor.
Clean the water tank. Water tank cleaning is divided into external cleaning and internal cleaning. This is an extremely important step, which will directly affect the use of the radiator, and then affect the use of the entire diesel generator set. The gaps of the radiator of the diesel generator set working in the open environment may be blocked by debris, insects and other debris. It can be sprayed with low-pressure hot water (appropriately adding detergent). Pay attention to spraying steam or water from the front of the radiator to the fan. When spraying, cover the diesel engine and alternator with cloth. If the deposits are difficult to remove, you can remove the radiator and soak it in hot alkaline water for about 20 minutes, and then rinse it off with hot water.
