Four Ways to Pack Diesel Generator Sets

29-08-2021

Generally, there are four common ways to pack dg sets. Each genset manufacturer has their own standard packing method. Usually, manufacturers will confirm it with their clients. If clients do not have special requirements, they will just follow the standard packing way. But the way may be changed due to different special requirements, distances or different shipping methods. Hereby Bidirection Power will introduce the regular four packing ways as below:

1. Soft Packing

This is the most common way to pack diesel engine generators. They use foam, plastic wrap or bubble film to wrap the whole dg set with two or three layers. This packing way is cost-effective, convenient and efficient. Most of genset manufacturers regard it as their standard packing way.

2. Wooden Packing

Literally, in this way, a dg set will be packed in a case or box which is assembled with wood battens or plywood. The cost of wooden packing is much higher than the soft packing, but it will give a safer & stronger protection for genset unit. And it is also convenient for loading and unloading. It should be noted that all the woods used in the packing should be fumigated, otherwise it could be rejected the custom of importers. Wood fumigation is a compulsory measure taken to prevent harmful diseases and insects from harming forest resources in many countries.

3. Carton Packing

Compare to the soft packing & wooden packing, the cost for carton packing is somewhere in between. Cartons are always made to order in bulk based on a certain size. Some cartons will be with brand, logo or other information printed on the surface.

4. Iron Packing

This way is always for clients' special requirements, which is seldomly used. The whole machine is packed with iron sheet & steel tube. The cost is really high, but it also gives the genset unit a great protection, even with weatherproof effect.

For the above mentioned four ways of packaging, soft packing & wooden packing & carton packing are commonly used in exporting. Soft packing is mainly used in FCL (full container load) shipping. Wooden packing is usually used in LCL (less than container load) shipping, especially for open type genset units. For some small units like gasoline generators, carton packing is the main way.
