Cummins Generator Running at Around -15 Degrees Celsius in Snowy Day
In our domestic market, we sold a Cummins dg set to a client in northern part of China. Lately it is Winter season in China. The genset was running at a degree centigrade of -15 ℃ in a snowy day. Water jacket heaters (also known as engine block heaters) are critical to diesel generators operating effectively in all standby power applications, especially in cold weather. The water jacket heaters ensure the coolant is maintained to an optimum start temperature.
There are many benefits of using water jacket heaters:
1) They reduce engine wear by quickly lubricating critical moving parts during the start cycle.
2) They can save fuel because it is not necessary to keep the engine idling to maintain proper starting temperature.
3) Cold engines can take a considerable time to crank-up, during which time the starter batteries can become heavily discharged.
4) Exhaust emissions can be reduced at the point of engine start because engines are designed to emit lower emissions at their operational temperature.
5) Keeping the engine warmer than the surrounding ambient temperature significantly reduces condensation in the engine sump.
